Injury ‘Crisis’ at West Brom
By: Dan | March 14th, 2008With James Morrison, Chris Brunt and Phil Texiera injured for tomorrow’s Leicester City clash, West Brom will be forced to dip into their reserve squad to fill the wide positions. Foxes fans shouldn’t get too excited though, Tony Mowbray insists these injuries will simply open up the door for someone else.

As the in form Zoltan Gera will no doubt take his place on the right of midfield, it is the vacant left wing slot that’ll be the one to watch. The candidates are:
- South Korean international Kim Do-Heon is yet to make a start for Albion. Though naturally a central midfield player, the new boy is very highly rated by Mowbray and with an excellent record at international level, Kim has to be the favorite to deputize.
- Dutch under-21 international Sherjill Macdonald has just returned from a very successful loan spell at Hereford. With great pace, power, an eye for goal and the ability to beat his man, Sherjill could be an ace attacking option on the wing.
- England under-21 duo Ishmael Miller and Luke Moore are both at the club as strikers but have done a job on the wing in the premiership for Man City and Villa respectively. Should they be asked to fill in, both are more than capable of doing a job at this level.
Underestimate our injury ridden squad at your peril!!! These lads will all be desperate to impress and possess the quality to do so.
My team for tomorrow (if The Hoff is still injured):
Kiely
Hodgkiss – Alby – Barnett – Robbo
Gera – Koren – Greening – Macdonald
Phillips – Miller
Macdonald deserves a chance after proving his worth in League 2. He’s been prolific in the reserves for the last year and has looked useful (if not productive) in his appearances off the bench though I think TM will go for Kim.
COME ON YOU BAGGIES!!!!!!
